Calvin B. Scruggs Funeral Home History

The Calvin B. Scruggs Funeral Home, located in Baltimore, Maryland, has a history rooted in the vision of its founder, Calvin B. Scruggs, Sr.

  • Founding: The business was started in 1967 by Calvin B. Scruggs, Sr. in a single row house, with the family living above it.
  • Growth: Over time, Scruggs, Sr. gradually acquired adjoining properties, eventually owning seven houses that were transformed into the funeral home's facility.
  • Family Ownership and Expansion: Following his father's death in 1999, Calvin B. Scruggs, Jr., and his mother, Bernadine, took over the business. They were committed to fulfilling the founder's vision of expanding the funeral home. They renovated and transformed the seven row houses into a new facility that includes a chapel, viewing rooms, and other amenities
