WILLIAM ASKEW HORTON JR., affectionately known as “June”, of the late William Askew Horton Sr. and Queen Ester Neal Horton in Franklin County North Carolina. William was born on September 19, 1948, the second of 5 children from this loving union and second oldest son. He was married to the late Mona Horton.
William gained his wings and entered eternal rest from his sudden illness on May 11, 2022.
June received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He graduated from Lake Clifton High School receiving his High School Diploma. Throughout his life he worked as a construction worker for more than 30 years with Flanigan Construction. June was a very spiritual minded person. He fellowship with several churches being a top Elder. He became a member of Pennsylvania Avenue A.M.E. Zion Baptist Church.
June was a master of Jiu-Jitsu and he loved teaching his nieces and nephews different moves to learn. He was known for having different types of suits, and hats to match and of course his shades. You never seen him with the same suit. We would always say “June got suits for days”. June loved to eat, especially his mother cooking. He would eat his vegetables first just to get them off his plate because he did not like vegetables.
June was met in heaven by his father William Sr., wife Mona Horton, nephew Dexter Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother: Queen “Ester”, two brothers: Alphonsus, Dexter, two sisters: Deborah, Gloria, one uncle from Raleigh North Carolina, one niece: Cheryl Jones, one nephew: Lawrence, six great-nieces, five great-nephews, three great great nephews and one great great niece, and a host of other relatives and friends.
