VIOLA BEATRICE BROWN was born to the late Bernard Lee and Earlene Cartwright on February 2, 1950 and sadly departed her life on March 6, 2024 after a brief illness.

Viola was affectionately known as Vi, received her education in the Baltimore City School System. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1968.

One year after high school, she gave birth to her only child Tonya. She went right into the workforce working at John Hopkins Hospital. She then went on to work for Commercial Credit, working with Micro-Film. She worked at Commercial Credit until the company relocated. She continued her career and started working for Monumental Life Insurance Company as a Claims Adjuster. She enjoyed working at Monumental Life Insurance Company as a Claims Adjuster. She enjoyed working at Monumental Life Insurance Company and was a part of many committees. The one committee that she enjoyed was Public Affairs where she began giving numerous bus trips. These bus trips included Ski Trips, Shopping Trips, Broadway Shows and Atlantic City Trips. Although she did not gamble, she enjoyed walking the Boardwalk and shopping.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her daughter, nieces and nephews. she always made sure to take them all over the place, especially the Kiddie Disco's on Easter. She was a stickler for getting her nails and hair done. Shopping was her favorite hobby and she was professional shopper.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene A. Cartwright, Jr. and Gregory Cartwright.

Viola leaves to cherish her memory: her only child, Tonya Banks (Danny Barnes); three sisters, Thelma Powers (Paul Powers), Pamela Cobb and Frances Cartwright; four nieces, Latarsha Johnson, Leslie Johnson, Shirelle Coates and Pauliesha Powers; two nephews, Eugene Dante Cartwright and Steven Cobb Jr; two great-nephews, Cortez Morgan and Ty'on Matthews; one great- niece, Nijaya Morgan and one bonus daughter, Dannyle Bell (Joseph Bell) and a host of other relatives and friends.
