Tyrone Bowie Sr. Obituary

Tyrone Eugene Bowie Sr., the beloved son of the late Leon and Edna Mae Bowie, was born on August 15, 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland. God received him back into his loving arms on Monday, April 26, 2021.

Tyrone received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1974. He attended Morgan State University and Towson University. In 1976,

Tyrone entered as a reservist in the United States Army National Guard. He served one weekend a month and two weeks a year for numerous years until his Honorable Discharge. “Ty” as he was affectionately known as, was raised in the Baptist church but he later expanded his knowledge and relationship with God through the Nation of Islam and non-denominational Churches.

Tyrone loved his sports, but wrestling was his favorite. He began his illustrious wrestling career at the Mckim Center and later wrestled for his high school. As an adult he returned to the Mckim Center where he was a devoted coach to his son, Bayboy and nephews Ronald, Travon and Christopher along with other teammates. It was normal to see Ty’s daughters and niece at every tournament during the wrestling season.

Tyrone was previously married to Yvette Johnson. He was the father of three daughters Tyra, Tiffany and Tashima. One son, his pride and joy Tyrone, Jr. During his relationship with Mae Jones, he loved and raised her daughters Mishae, Crystal and Diamond as his own. He was employed by the Department of Public Works as a Waste Operations Tech for 19 years and later held numerous jobs.

Tyrone was looking forward to reaching his retirement age. Tyrone loved fishing and crabbing, he often took his children, cousins and nephews during the summer months. Ty always told his family “If you buy my crab traps, I’ll get you all the crabs you want!” However, we never received the crabs after purchasing the traps! Ty came home from work asking his kids “Did you feed my fish?” We would reply “Daddy, we didn’t eat ourselves!”. In excitement he screamed “WHAT! You didn’t feed my fish?!” Ty loved his family immensely, especially his nieces Rochelle and N’kallah. At every family gathering he could be heard loudly, recounting hilarious stories.

Tyrone, without fail, would help anyone. It was common to see him with a broom and bag cleaning debris from his neighborhood. Ty was a loving father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He spent hours watching his grandkids while his children worked. Tyrone’s latter years in life was spent with his beloved Clarine Harvey.

Tyron was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Charles, Arnold, Gloria and Bessie; and his beloved son Tyrone Jr..

He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Tyra, Tiffany and Tashima; two son in laws, Harold and Eric; ten grandchildren: Ayeshon, Malik, Aaliyah, Miracle, Tylin, Ty’shae, Ryan, Harmony and Heiress and Sage; two great granddaughters, Kennedy and Sariyah; four siblings, Leon, Phyllis, Ernestine and Roslyn; two brothers in law, Marvin and Karl and host of nieces, nephews and family.
