TYJAI MICHAEL CASSELL, affectionately known by family and friends as "TY" was born to Yolanda and James on February 11, 1999 in Baltimore, Maryland. TY passed away on June 4, 2021 in Seattle, Washington.
Ty was a kind young man, a gentle soul of quiet observation and always generous with his bright, infectious smile. Ty graduated from New Town High School in Owings Mills, Maryland. Ty loved sports so much, when he was a young boy he played football, basketball and even wrestling. Ty was the tender introvert but very family oriented. He enjoyed playing video games and spending times with his brothers the most. As Ty matured, he took much delight in the simple things, yet carried curiosity for the novel and unfamiliar.
Ty's curious nature and "Go Getta" spirit drew him from Baltimore, Maryland to Seattle, Washington where he held positions in building construction, hospital security and mental health caregiving.
It came as no surprise to those close to Ty, that he received the most satisfaction in the mental health Field because of his deep empathy and human understanding. While living in Seattle, Ty documented his adventures which affirmed the growth of his independent and inquistive adherence. Although Ty relocated to Seattle, he loved his family and friends on the East Coast.
Tyjai was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carmelita, Joyce Ann, Lester, Sr., and Wiley.
Ty leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, Yolanda and James, Jr.: three sisters, Marquita, Crystal and Briana; four brothers, Brandon, James III, Nathaniel, and Jeremiah; grandfather, James, Sr.; bonus mom, Mama Lisa; bonus brother, Brandon; three aunts, Leslie, Toni and Tanyaw; one great-aunt, Laura; one uncle, Lester, Jr.; one great-uncle, Alan; a few special cousins, Loreal, Alan, Jr. Nicky, Asia, Rene and Annette; two best friends, Eric and Conan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
