Timothy Peaks Obituary

Timothy Lamont Peaks affectionately known as “Lil Timmy” graced this world on June 9th, 1966, born to Norman Peaks and Marsha Johnson in Baltimore, Maryland at the former City Hospital (Bayview Hospital). He peacefully departed this earthly realm on March 12th, 2024. Lil Timmy was a beloved Son, Fiancé, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Nephew, and Friend.

From a tender age, Timothy embraced his faith in Christ, a devotion that continued to flourish throughout his life. He later found his spiritual home at The Church Without Four Walls, under the leadership of Apostle Paul Dixson where he faithfully served the Lord, his Apostle, and the community until the Lord called him home.

Education was dear to his heart, and he received his schooling through the Baltimore City Public School system, culminating in him receiving his GED. Following his education journey, Timothy embarked on a lifelong commitment uniting with his lifelong partner Jeannie (NeNe) Purnell. From this union they were blessed with one beautiful daughter.

As a young man Timothy work various odd jobs to earn money to help his family. Later in life he was employed by Dollar Tree, Lord Baltimore Laundry Services, and the MidAtlantic Bakery where he forged several lasting friendships.

Active in his community, Timothy was renowned for his infectious humor and radiant smile. He extended a helping hand to those in need and could often be seen on Ashland Avenue on Sundays ministering and feeding the homeless. His devotion to his family, friends, and community help shape his character.

Lil Timmy had a heart of gold; family was everything to him. The highlight of his day was his daily phone call to his mother (The Queen).  He enjoyed family gatherings which was always a walk down memory lane. Some of his most precious childhood memories were spent at his grandmothers at 912 Belnord Ave. Listening to oldie but goodies and watching TV was another favorite pastime he enjoyed. Crime shows and sports (basketball) were amongst his favorites. Fashion was Lil Timmy; he was a shopping connoisseur. Whenever you saw him, he was cleaner than the board of health.

His brothers and sister held a cherished place in his life, with shared moments creating a tapestry of love and companionship. Timothy love and doted over his daughters and grandchildren. Picking his grandchildren up from school was a proud moment for him.

Proceeding Timothy in eternal rest are his father, Norman Peaks, brother Theodore Gross, and Grandmother Catherine Johnson, aunts Bernadette and Gwendolyn Johnson.

Lil Timmy’s memory lives on in the hearts of his mother and father Marsha and Timothy Johnson, fiancé Jeannie Purnell, children Caress, Purnell-Peaks, and Kevena Jackson, Brothers Kevin Johnson (Tyra), Navon and Norman Peaks, Sister Tracey Miles, Sister in Law Toya Gross, and a special friend Joan Brown. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 7 aunts, 5 uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

In the tapestry of life, Timothy Johnsons’ thread weaves a legacy of love, faith, and resilience that will forever be remembered to those who were fortunate to know him.
