Thelma Denise Patterson was born in Littleton, NC on March 9, 1965, to Elsie Patterson and Edward Lester. At a young age she moved to Baltimore, MD with her two sisters and their mother. Thelma received her education through the Baltimore City Public School system earning her high school diploma in 1983 from Lake Clifton High School. In 2008, she received her bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration. In the following years she held a career with the State of Maryland.
Thelma was adamant about her goals, and she cherished being around family and friends. During her youth she enjoyed playing softball, skating and hanging with her sisters. She valued her commitment to the Lord by being an active member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for many years. She was the leader of the youth ministry, a choir member, a Sunday school teacher and a part of various committees. Thelma will be remembered as a traveler and a very compassionate friend and family. She will truly be missed by everyone.
Thelma was called home on Thursday, June 23, 2022. She leaves to cherish her memories her mother Elsie Patterson; two sisters Evelyn Patterson and Sharon Keys; one brother-in-law Keith Keys Sr.; three children Davon Austin, Lakeia Ross, and Jada Ross; three grandchildren Aydria Carter, Iyona Austin, and Sheldon Walker Jr; two nieces Ashley Wilson and KeAsia Keys; two nephews Keith Keys Jr. and Kevin Keys; one great-niece Riley Wilson and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Caroline Moore, grandfather Herald Moore, Uncle Melvin Patterson, the fathers of her children Michael Austin and Kevin Ross.
