TERRANCE PAUL SCRUGGS SR., son of Romaine Scruggs and the late Richard Anderson departed this life on January 31, 2023 after a lengthy illness and a courageous fight.
Big T, or uncle T, as he was affectionately known as was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. After high school he briefly worked at Stella Morris Hospital. He also worked as a manager for Precision Tune, Jiffy Lube and various car shops in the city as a car mechanic. In 2007, he received his Inspection Certification from Manheim Auctions as a Condition Report Writer. More importantly, he was known "The Community Mechanic". You could always find him on Brentwood Avenue in front of his home working on someone's car in any kind of weather. Mom remembers trying to encourage him to come in out of the rain. He responded that he couldn't because the lady needed her car to go to work the next day. So, he didn't stop until he completed the task. Terrance would go to Crazy Rays and various junkyards to find parts for customers so they could save the most on their repairs. Working on cars was his passion. He passed his knowledge on to neighborhood mechanics like his friend Mike West.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Clarence E. Poole. There he attended Sunday School and sang on the Youth Choirs. He was also a boy scout and on the Steppers Team at the Union Baptist Church with his cousin Brian. He loved the Lord, and listened to various church services on Sundays with his mom. He asked for prayer with his mom before he transitioned which gives her great comfort during this time. Terrance was a quiet person until the Ravens played. Through it all he never complained.
He loved his family and cared deeply for his mother. Terrance took care of our brakes, tune-ups and whatever else our cars needed. He was our personal mechanic.
Terrance was proceeded in death by two brothers, Kevin & Richard Scruggs.
Terrance leaves to celebrate his life his devoted mother Romaine Scruggs; two sons, Terrance Paul Scruggs Jr. and Paul Lamont Scruggs; four grandchildren, Le'Mar Scruggs, Terrance Scruggs, Kingston Scruggs and Grace Scruggs; one sister, Cheri Ames , two brothers, Keith Scruggs (Rachelle), Michael Anderson (Wendy); three aunts, Shirley Robinson, Carolyn Hunter and Constance Perry; devoted friends, Melisa, Maya, Mirakle and Michael West; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces great nephews, cousins and friends.
