TERESA SYLVIA PHYALL peacefully transitioned on December 29, 2023. She was gifted to us by the late Sylvia and Handy Phyall on February 17, 1955. She was affectionately known as Ma, Reci, GG, Na-Na, Nana Banana, Aunt Reci, Ree and Mother Teresa. Reci was raised on the east side of Baltimore. She completed her education at Patterson High School, an accomplishment she shared with her number 1 number one son Steven and her number one number 2 son, Kevin.
Reci was gainfully employed with the Steamship Trade Association/Ports of America from 2003 until her retirement in 2021, was more than extraordinary. She was vivacious, she was exciting and had a larger-than-life personality. Reci did NOT play about the ones she loved! If you know, then you know! If you didn't you quickly found out! Reci loved shopping, especially the thrift stores. She would find and fight for the most exclusive and unique items. More than anything she loved to be the life of the party. A party wasn't a party until she came through. She was the cook, the bartender, food security AND the entertainment. She could sing every song and every note, ESPECIALLY if it was Patti LaBelle or Anita Baker. We will never forget he many food and cake wars she started, that stained clothes and caked our hair up, but also left unforgettable memories. A true testament to the fun person she was.
Reci was preceded in death by one sister, Aletha Phyall; one brother, James Douglass; and one grandson, Treston Alton.
Reci leaves to mourn her one and only daughter, Aisha Henderson; son-in-law, Harold Henderson; her number 1 number 1son, Steven Burden; her number 1 number 2 son, Kevin Kinsey; daughter-in-law, Sierra Kinsey; her grandchildren, Jazmina, Nia Lea, Steven Burden Jr., Kenedi Kinsey, Lauren Burden, Shykieh Arrington, Martice Johnson, Te'Shawn Kinsey, Shaunea Howard, Kabria Howard, Kevin Kinsey Jr. and Karsyn Kinsey; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Handy Phyall (Lenora Phyall); Kevin Brown (Gloria Brown); two sisters, Joanne Douglas and Evelyn Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In her honor, we celebrate her life, her love and her wisdom she shared with us all. In her words, "See ya! I ain't gotta go home, but I'm getting the f*ck outta here!"
