TANYA C. BUTLER, the 4th child of the late Harry M. Sr. and Dorothy J. Butler entered life on September 18, 1947. She quietly transitioned home on Monday, April 3, 2023.
Tanya was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Fairmount Hill Senior High School # 453. Tanya was certified in Early Child Development and worked in several daycare facilities and homes. Tanya was also employed in later times at the Globe Venetian Blind Company that operated in East Baltimore and was a part-time Caterer's helper for an established Black-Owned business.
After pursuing other faiths, Tanya returned to the Catholic Faith and the church of her childhood. She became an active member of several organizations such as the Catholic Daughters of American, The SFX Women's Choir and the SFX Praise Ensemble.
Tanya loved coloring and working jigsaw puzzles and would spend hours working on her "masterpieces". She gave a lot of these away as gifts, to friends, family and neighbors in the facilities where she lived. Tanya never forgot a birthday or holiday and made sure we always received a card or some small token to celebrate the occasion.
Tanya never had children but she love interacting with all the children in the family, in the neighborhood, and in the church. She had a childlike love of Church and Family. She was drawn to the Seniors as well, especially her "Aunt Lorraine" and her Godmothers "Annamaria Joyner and Ms. Edna Kane.
Tanya was preceded in death by her parents Harry M. Sr. and Dorothy J. Butler and her sister Alma V. Taylor.
Tanya leaves to cherish her memory, her brother Harry M. Butler, Jr., her sisters Sonja I. Owens (Eugene), Pia D. Butler, Celeste M. Butler and Avis D. Butler; her nieces and nephews, Pamela Massey, Vanessa Owens, Crystalyn Gaddy, Paige Bailey-Cooper (Gary), Parrish Taylor, Kevin M. Butler (Carleen), Brian P. Butler (Marissa), Antwan Butler and Aaron Butler; 15 great nieces and nephews and 14 great-great nieces and nephews and our only surviving aunt from the Butler/Brooks family Mamie Simms.
