Steven Antonio Averette Sr. was born May 13, 1968 in Baltimore, MD. to the late John and Beulah Averette. God in His infinite wisdom called him to eternal rest on Saturday, May 16, 2020 after a tragic accident. At an early age he gave his life to Christ and was baptized at United Baptist Church.
Steve was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and later received his G.E.D in 1987. Up until his passing He was employed at Whiting Turner Construction as a laborer. He was also a
member of the Laborers Union. Steve or Fats, as family and friends called him as he was growing up, knew him to be a very outgoing and opinionated individual. Fats loved to have a good time. He was
good with his hands and running his mouth. Having a conversation with him was like you could not get a word in, especially when he knew he was right.
Steve became a proud father to Steven Antonio Averette Jr. in 1994 and September Averette in 2001.
Prior to passing, Steve’s Dad always expressed his wishes for him to find love and happiness in a woman of his dreams and make her his wife. Steve was able to grant his father’s wishes by marrying the love
of his life, Lakia Lewis, on July 7, 2012. The couple had a very special loving relationship. When they met, it was obvious that they were soulmates. He treated her like a queen and adored their life together.
Steve and Lakia were blessed to have shared a beautiful blended family together.
Steve loved spending time with his wife, family and friends. His infectious smile and laughter could be enjoyed by all at various affairs like cookouts and holidays. Steve was a loyal individual, especially to his nearest and dearest. He also shared a very special bond with his sister Denise Muse, niece, Erica Campbell, and nephew, Dana McAllister.
Steve was the kind of person who could make friends wherever he went. We couldn't begin to name all the friends. You all know who you are, what bond you all shared and the role you played in each other's lives. Steve will be missed by many.
His earthly presence here has ended, but his memory will live in the hearts of those who he leaves to cherish him forever; his wife, Lakia Averette; two children, Steven Averette Jr. and September Averette; two stepchildren, Lashae Taylor and Donje Lewis; three grandchildren ; two brothers, Robert “Mookie” Reed and Clinton Averette; three sisters, Denise Muse, Genise Trent and Sherry Averette and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and his dog “Roxy”.
