Our beloved Sarah M. Butcher (affectionately known as “Maxine”) was suddenly called to her Heavenly rest on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the age of 66.
Maxine was born on October 6, 1955 in Virginia and was the first born child to the late Albert and Cora Woodley. Her family moved to Baltimore when she was two years old.
Maxine attended Baltimore City Public Schools. She then joined Job Corp to complete her high school education and to receive job training skills. After Job Corp, Maxine decided to enter into the United States Army where she served her time with pleasure and received an Honorable Discharge. After leaving the Army, Maxine married James “Tyrone” Butcher from Washington D.C. and she lived in D.C. for years until she divorced. She then moved back to Baltimore where she worked several jobs before she became disabled.
Maxine was a very kind and loving person and always greeted you with a big smile that would brighten a room. She enjoyed cooking, sipping on her coffee while reading, spending time with her family and close friends but most of all she loved her cat, Randy. Our Maxine’s kindness will never be forgotten.
Maxine was preceded in death by her loving parents and sister, Darlene Woodley.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memories: One sister, Eloise Woodley, and Two step sisters Sharvon Pitt and Naomi Lambert; two nephews, Albert and Darryl Woodley; one Uncle, Percy Lee Woodley (Emma); two Aunts, Betty Callis (John), Margaret Ward both are from Virginia; great nieces, Tailar, Asia, and Anyshia; great nephews, Albert Woodley, Jr. and Avion Woodley; and a host of many loving cousins, other family relatives and friends.
