Samuel Brown Obituary

On November 29, 1929, Samuel B. Brown was born to the late Elizabeth Fuller. Known to the family as 'B' and to others as 'Brown', he was educated in the public school system in Vance, South Carolina.

After school, he got a job as a helper at 'The Four Hole Lumber Company' near Charleston, S.C., but from an early age knew he would like to experience life in the big city, so he relocated to Washington D.C.

Upon arriving in D.C. he got a job as a delivery driver with 'Bob & Ross Lumber', and each day would work his route, with his Atlas map alongside him, learning his way around DC, Maryland & Virginia. He took great pride in his work and would 'humbly brag' about how fast he could make all his deliveries and be back at the lumberyard before the other drivers.

Eventually, Brown would move on to a position at 'Agricultural Research Center', located in Beltsville, MD. where he would work until his retirement.

On April 26, 1996, he exchanged vows with his beloved wife Donnetta and they made their home in Catonsville, MD.

Brown was a sharp dresser and loved to wear his freshly polished, Stacy Adams Shoes, along with his hat and pants pulled up to his stomach. Along with his cigar in his mouth, when he stepped out, you couldn't tell him he wasn't the cleanest and coolest guy in town. Brown also enjoyed fishing and would go out with his friends on the Bay Bridge in Annapolis and stay out on the boat all day, even if they didn't catch a thing. Sometimes they didn't catch anything because they were busy sipping beer, talking and laughing, while the fish swam right on by them.

Brown leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife, Donnetta Brown; one daughter, Joyce A. Witcher (Wash D.C.); one brother, Harry L. Davis (Capital Heights, MD); and several sisters, Lillie L. Snyder (Vance S.C.), Elizabeth (Aubrey), Gregory (East Orange, NJ), Dorothy Raysor (Summerton, S.C.), Salley A. Guess (Pinewood S.C.), Minnie Goldberg (East Orange, N.J.), Hazel Montgomery (Holly Hill, S.C.) and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, relatives and friends.
