Sam Curbeam Obituary

Sam “Sambo” Curbeam was born September 25, 1957 to the late Great Green Berry and Tiny Mae Curbeam and suddenly departed his life on May 10, 2021.

He was born in Fairfield County, South Carolina and later relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. Sam received his education in Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1974.

In 1976 Sam joined the U.S. Army and took such honor in being a veteran. After being honorably discharged he began his career at the Sparrows Point Shipyard where he worked many years.

Sam was a devoted brother, uncle, father and grandfather. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was our family historian, if you ever needed to know anything we would call him. Sam could tell you where to find a all the best deals, as he would say “nobody can out shop me”. Sam knew Who , what , when, where and how”, he had a knack for being a “know it all” and boy could he talk! He would go on and on about this and that, especially his love for baseball and fast cars. His favorite saying was “ I know you like a book”! Sam took pride in how he dressed, he had a love for suits and kangol hats. He swore nobody could beat him in dressing and he was the prettiest in the family LOL. Sam you are the staple of our family, you will truly be missed.

Sam is preceded in death by his mother and father, Green and Tiny Curbeam; brother, Charles Curbeam; nephew, Charles L. Curbeam, and aunt Tommie Lee.
