Sally M. Woodard, born to Luther and Iola Crawford on December 31, 1950 in Dillon, South Carolina. She was called to eternal rest on April 16, 2021.
Sally was educated in the South Carolina public school system.
After high school, Sally moved to Baltimore, MD to live with her older sister Sannie for employment. At that time, Sally was employed as a salesperson at Hutzler’s Department Store. After a few years as a salesperson, Sally’s interest was later focused on banquet services. She was employed at John Hopkins Hospital and later Good Samaritan Hospital where she retired.
In 1969, Sally met the love of her life, Cornell Woodard Sr. They were married after a short courtship. From that union, Sally and Cornell had five children: Pamela, Cornell Jr., Adam, Thomas, and Gerkia.
Sally enjoyed life. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with family and having a good time. Some would say Sally had a green thumb the way she would grow and care for her plants and flowers. Sally was also known for her skills in the kitchen baking delicious pies, cooking up smothered pork chops and homemade cornbread dressing.
Sally was an active member of New Antioch Baptist Church located at 2401 St. Paul Street. As a member of the church, she sang in the mass choir. Though Sally was a quiet woman, She was strong in her faith, and she loved the Lord. She would often say “Don’t you know...God is rich! He is not sitting on that throne for nothing.”
She will be fondly remembered as a loving, sweet, and kind woman who was always smiling.
Preceding her in death, loving and devoted husband, Cornell Sr; Sisters, Ruby and Mary; brothers, Luther, Theodore, William, and James; granddaughter, Makaela.
