Obituary
Richard Lee Sommerville was born December 31, 1938 to the late Walter and Bettye Lou Sommerville. God called him home on Saturday, July 15, 2023.
Richard was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System.
After school Richard sought employment with the Baltimore City Public School System where he dedicated 39 years of service before retiring. In addition, Richard not being ready to fully retire began to work as the custodian at his home church, United Baptist Church and Home Depot where he worked in the flower and paint department.
During the Christmas Holiday Season, Richard would play Santa Claus for the families that came into Home Depot.
On January 16, 2007, Richard married Darling Valentine. They shared a blended family of two boys and five girls.
Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland & James Sommerville, two sisters Betsy Brown and Nance White.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Darling, five daughters, Veronica Denise Harvin (Van), Sharon, Karen, Tracey, Christina, two sons, Richard Jr. and Donald. One brother, Walter Somerville (Jean), a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
