PAULETTE C. CLARKE, daughter of the late Claudalee Kiah and Howard Johnson, was born on October 6th, 1946 in Baltimore, Md. She departed this life on September 30th, 2018 after a lengthy illness. In her final hours she was still fighting to be here with her family but God knew her mission was complete. She fought a good fight!. She has joined her sister Clanthermae Ingram and sister-in-law Deborah Johnson in eternal rest.
Paulette was born and raised in Baltimore City and graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar high School. She was employed by the Social Security Administration and worked several other jobs to make sure her children had everything they needed. She was a hard worker, a devoted wife and mother who raised four children on her own. After raising her own children she had to take on the responsibility of raising her grandchildren. She never asked anyone for help but helped everyone. She was the first one to call when you were in need. Now you may get cursed out but in the end, she would still give it to you. She was hard on the outside but soft as a teddy bear on the inside. She sacrificed her dreams and aspirations so her offspring could flourish. The true backbone of her family.
On March 24th, 1998 she married the love of her life, Edward Melvin Clarke. They were married for 20 pleasurable years. She enjoyed hosting card parties, cookouts and sitting on her porch talking smack! At family gatherings she was the life of the party, making everybody laugh. She was funny, she was real (maybe too real at times) but that's what we loved about her. She was never afraid to speak her mind and let you know how she really felt. She is one of a kind and will be deeply missed.
Paulette leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Edward Melvin Clarke; one son Donnell Scroggins; three daughters, Deborah Evans, Tanya Greene and Desiree, one step-daughter, Monicka Boyd; one brother, Howard Johnson Jr.; eight grandchildren, Tamika J., Kenneth, Mook, Myeshia, Corey, Tamika S., Tonya, Destony and Amaya; six great grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
