Oveda Lynn Nelson Howard passed away peacefully on December 29, 2020. She was born July 3, 1939 in Baltimore, MD to the late Jack and Lucille Nelson, and is survived by her loving sister Noan Locust and brother-in-law, Irvin Locust. Oveda was educated in the Baltimore Public School system, and a graduate of the Class of 1957 from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.
Oveda Nelson and George Armstead married and from that union their daughters Natalie and Leslie were born.
Oveda Nelson Armstead married Oscar Howard and Sheila Lynn was born from that union.
Oveda served more than 30 years as a Claims Examiner at Social Security Administration. After retiring she worked 5 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at In Good Hands Nursing Services. She had a passion for serving
and caring for seniors.
Oveda was a happy, spirited person who lived her life to the fullest and always encouraged others to love and respect one another. She greatly enjoyed cooking and eating – especially her delicious peach cobbler.
Oveda leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Natalie Hudson and Sheila Howard Allen, and son-in-law Darnell Hudson; four granddaughters, LaKeah, LaRhonda, London, and Marlo; three grandsons – Darnell, Demond, and Rasheed; nine great grandchildren Ronald, Shakira, Ragan, Charlie, Kareem, Heaven, Darnell, Jr., Layla, and Carter; four great-great grandchildren - Journee, Nasir, Mason, and Melody; two nieces - Deborah Nelson and Yvonne Warren (Roxboro, NC); two nephews - Eric Nelson, and Michael Lewis as well as countless relatives and friends.
