Obituary

ODESSA STEVENSON, eldest daughter of the late Isiah Davis and Ella Patterson Davis was born September 3, 1927 in Fairfield County, South Carolina.

Odessa was educated in the South Carolina Public School System. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age at Sweet Prospect, AME Zion Church after migrating to Baltimore, MD under the late Reverend Joseph Culp, she was baptized at the New Friendship Baptist Church where she was a faithful servant  for over seventy-four years serving on several ministries (Culp Jubilee Vocal Choir, Flower Circle, Pastor's Aid and Missionary Ministry, Women's Ministry and the Community Vocal Choir).

Odessa married Charlie Stevenson in 1946 and from this union six children were raised. After thirty-five years of service and commitment, she retired from the General Electric Company. She was a loving sister, mother, niece and friend; she was a praying grand-mother who supported her grandchildren and had a special relationship with her oldest grandson David Colson.

Odessa was a member of the Eastern Star where she swerved diligently. She loved cooking, watching her TV shows The Price is Right and Westerns. When she was in good health she loved traveling back home to South Carolina to visit family and friends; also traveled to California, Canada, Connecticut and New York. A Godly woman who was stern yet understanding will be missed by everyone who came in contact with and life she touched.

Odessa's labor here on earth was completed and God peacefully called her home on July 29, 2023 with her daughter, Martha Lily by her side.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Stevenson; sons Charlie Jr., Cornell, Thomas and James Henry Stevenson; daughter Easter Williams

Her memory will be cherish by her daughter, Martha Lily Stevenson-Mayo; sisters, Gladys Parrish, Jessie Mae Brown, Dina Thompson, Willette Stevenson, Maggie Springfield (Walter); brother, Joe Charlie Davis (Cheryl), brother-in-law, Issac Fisher, 12 grand-children; 20 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
