Norman James Sr., son of the late, Moses James and Lucille (Arnold) James was born in Hartsville, South Carolina on Sunday, January 22, 1955. Norman departed this life on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
Norman received the Lord and was baptized at the New Psalmist Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland under the leadership of Bishop Walter S. Thomas.
Education was very important to Norman, he earned his high school diploma from Frederick Douglas high school in Baltimore, Maryland. In August of 1973, Norman earned an Associate in Arts from Essex Community College; he didn’t stop there, in December of 1977 he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson State University. Before falling ill, Norman was only a few credits shy from earning a Master’s degree.
Norman held many jobs; from teaching to coaching basketball and finally management. In January of 2012, Norman retired from a long and rewarding career at Howard University Department of Law.
Norman’s legacy will live on through his two sons, Norman Jr. (Tonia), Tyrone (Angela); and his daughter Renata. Norman had nine grandchildren; Aurelle, Nicole, Norman III, Marquis, Marcellus, Tyshae, Mycheal and Noah. Tyrone Jr. preceded his grandfather in death. He was blessed with eight great-grandchildren; Imani, KeyMar, Morgan, Maddison, Monye, Adina, Noah, and Logan. Three sisters; Rosa, Barbara and Brenda. Three brothers; Carlton Sr, Keith and Norris Sr. (Tatum), Robert preceded his younger brother in death. Norman will be missed by a host of other relatives and friends.
