Naomi Melton Obituary

NAOMI MELTON, daughter of the late Ethel and Jake Lilly was born on September 5, 1930 in Anston County, North Carolina. On Wednesday June 10, 2020 she departed this life peacefully to rest in the arms of the Lord.

She received her education in the Anston County Public School System, in North Carolina.

She met and married the love of her life, William Thomas Melton Sr. (Bill) who lovingly called her Nome in 1948. He proceeded her in death on October 4, 2010, soon after they moved to Baltimore, Maryland. Out of this union five children were born. A daughter proceeded her in death, Theresa Melton-Lyles, a son Gregory Melton and a sister Dorothea Lilly.

Naomi accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptized at an early age at Madison Grove Baptist Church in Wadesboro, North Carolina. She continued her Christian walk by joining St. Paul Community Baptist Church in 1983. Naomi was a faithful and diligent worker, she loved and served on the Usher, Missionary, Deaconess Board and working with the Kitchen Committee.

She was employed and retired from Emptor Mailing Company, where she was a 3rd shift machine technician and later moved up to 3rd shift supervisor.

Nome was a loving wife, mother, grandmom, great-grandmom and friend to all who knew and loved her. She loved being around her family and they loved being around her. Especially her sweet potato cookies.

She leaves to cherish her memories, sons, William Thomas Melton, Jr.and Lenny Melton; daughter, Bernadette Melton-Lowther; goddaughter, Charlene Clifton; son-in-law, Michael Lyles; daughter-in-law, Vernita Beatty-Melton; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Melton; five grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
