Michael Butler Obituary

Michael John Butler was born on February 3, 1959 to the late John and Pearl Butler in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the youngest of five children.
Michael was affectionately known as “Man”, “Mike”, and “Pop-Pop”. He was educated in the Baltimore City Public School Systems. Michael attended
Fort Worthington Elementary School, Hempstead Hill Junior High, and Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School where he matriculated in 1978. He also attended Morgan State University where he majored in Criminal Justice.

Michael’s first job was with Neighborhood Youth Corp “NYC” as a maintenance apprentice. After high school, he went to work at Church
Hospital Corporation in 1978 as a dietary aide. Michael advanced to an emergency room technician while working there when Church Hospital
closed in 1999. He then went to Medstar Harbor Hospital until his retirement in 2017.

While employed at Church Hospital, he met the love of his life, Theresa Matthews. They were married on June 16, 1990. Out of this union, Quinn
Amanda and Morgan Monique were born.

Michael was an avid sports lover, He loved tennis, baseball, basketball, and especially football. He even played on the Church Hospital softball team
and Dunbar’s tennis team. Michael was an exceptional dresser. He loved clothes and he loved to smell good. He also loved to work on and take care
of cars. Michael loved to spend time with his family, especially his granddaughter Karyss.

Michael leaves to cherish his memories wife, Theresa; daughters, Ciarra, Quinn, and Morgan Butler; grandchildren, Marquis, Karyss, and Malia;
siblings, Robert Butler, Janet Cook, Lawrence Butler, and Donna (James) Wright; In-Laws, Theodore Dew, Patricia Williams, Wanda (Larry) Williams,
John and Damon Matthews-Bey, Cecilia (Tommy) Cozart, and Angela and Harriette Matthew. A host of nieces, especially Julian Cook; nephews, great
nieces, great nephews, cousin, godchildren, and friends, especially Mrs. Irene Fowlkes and Tracy Fowlkes.
