Melvin “Puncho” Green was born January 9, 1953 to the late Melvin Green and Nettie Bracey in Harlem, New York. Melvin departed his life unexpectedly on April 7, 2022 at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Melvin received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He was a proud graduate of Carver High School where he was inducted into Carver’s hall of fame as the star football player.
Melvin was employed at Sysco as a truck driver for 15 years. He then became employed at Medline, where he later retired after 13 years of service.
Melvin never turned a party down; he enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, dancing, bowling, golfing and softball. Melvin enjoyed gathering with his extended family the knights, Paragon Golf Association and was a frequent bowler at AMF Lanes.
Melvin married the love of his life Loretta Green on June 11, 1988.
Melvin had an unconditional love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He would do anything in the world for them, there was no mountain high enough He would not climb.
Melvin joined the United States Air force in 1976, He took pride in serving his country. Melvin received an honorable discharge in 1979. Melvin was a member of American Legion post #285.
Melvin was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jerome and Sheldon; and great grandchild Isaiah Ahmad Lawson.
Melvin leaves to mourn: his loving wife Loretta Green; two daughters, Brandy and Ebony Green; two sons, Melvin and Marcus Green; eight grandchildren, Melvin, Shapri, Makenzie, Mekhyiah, Logan, Jordan, Jarrod and Malcolm; two brothers in-law; six sisters in-law; a special aunt and uncle, Stanley and Olivia Bracey; a special sister in-law, Gloria and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
