Maurice R Wright

MAURICE R. WRIGHT was born on November 18, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Annie Mae (Miller) Wright and Walter H. Wright Sr. He departed this life and went home to everlasting rest on Saturday 16, 2021.

Maurice was educated in the Baltimore, Maryland school system and graduated from Edmondson High School where he was involved in sports. He was known to share fond memories of his high school days. Maurice was a long standing, dedicated employee of Poly Technical High School where his passion for the rest of his life was to ensure the floors of Poly shined like a mirror where you could see yourself. He buffed and polished the finish on the gym floors like they were his own.

On December 18, 1981, Maurice married the lovely late Rosa Lee Saunders. Throughout their union, they had a  special and unbreakable bond. Everyone around them knew that despite anything they were two peas in a pod! He became the bonus Dad to three amazing young men, Dennis, Bernard and Alfred. Together, Maurice and Rosa continued to give them parental advice and lend a listening ear to hear whatever they wanted to tell them. 

After a hard day's work, among his favorite activities was to eat whatever his beloved and darling wife, Rosa cooked for him; coupled with watching old western movies or the Orioles and Ravens play on TV. Whenever games were not televised, he would listen to them on the radio.

Maurice was never one to complain and loved to talk, especially about sports, politics and history. He was affectionately called 'Uncle M' by his beloved nephews.

The love of his life and wife of 36 years, Rosa Lee, preceded him in death in 2018. His siblings, Walter H. Wright, Jr., Delores W. France an Delroy Wright all preceded him in death.

Maurice's love and memory will be cherished for days and years to come by his devoted bonus sons, Dennis Ford (wife, Letisha), Bernard Ford (wife, Michelle), and Alfred Ford; 2 granddaughters, Carrera Ford Monroe (husband, Christian), and Tiarra Ford; one great-granddaughter, Cali Rose Monroe, sisters-in-law, Annie Pearl Bailey (husband, C.B.), Hattie Mae Harvey (husband, Joseph), Neva Saunders (husband, Robert L.), Mary-Kate Taylor (husband, Alonzo), brother-in-law, David Lee "Peter" Solomon; nephews, Kerry D. Wright, Delroy Wright Jr. and Douglas W. France, Jr.; first cousins Ronald Thompson, Barbara Griffin and Tia White. In addition, Maurice leaves behind great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
