Margie Pickett Obituary

On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, God picked a gentle flower and called Margie Pickett home. Margie, also known as "Ma-Ma", was born May 22, 1945 to the late Ferman and Mary Taylor.

Margie attended Baltimore City Public Schools. At an early age she pursued her passion of taking care of others. She worked at Keswick Nursing Home and for some time was a Nursing Assistant at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She went on to perform various jobs as a Home Health Care Assistant (Caregiver). She loved taking care of the elderly and always gave unselfishly of herself. The passion she had for others spilled over to her becoming a foster parent and tirelessly mothered several children who became very productive in life.

Margie joined the Memorial Baptist Church. She was baptized and dedicated her life to the Lord. At Memorial, she served as a Missionary and Nurse. She looked forward to going to church and attending Sunday School classes.

A wonderful cook, one of her favorites for family functions was her famous potato salad which everyone looked forward to. Pokeno was the go-to game on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Margie leaves to cherish her memory two daughters; Jacqueline Thompson and Tara Harrington; one son, Roger Cook Sr.; one son-in-law, Wayne Harrington; six grandchildren, Tanika Dabney, Devin Reynolds, Denard Reynolds, Danielle Cook, Reges Cook Jr., and Tyrell Cook; two great-grandchildren, Antoine Smith and Denard Reynolds Jr.; two brothers, Reverend Fermer Taylor (Roseline) and Minister Charles Taylor (Pamela); one sister, Audrey Thomas; one foster sister, Vera Gray; those preceding Margie in death are two sisters, Ernestine Johnson and Delores Cook; two brothers, Curtis Taylor and Walter Taylor; others remembering her are many nieces and nephews, family and friends and a long time friend who was very close to her, Bashire Johnson-Bey also known as "Biggie", who also preceded her in death.
