Lorraine (Byers) Addison was born on June 29,1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Arthur Sr. and Estella Byers. She was the ninth child born of this union which nine had preceded her in death. Vernel, Myrtle, Estella, Arthur, Clara, Wilbert, William, Ruth and Bertha.
Lorraine received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools.
At an early age she received Christ in her life. Every Sunday she faithfully listened to Heaven 600 radio station. Several of her favorite songs were His Eye on a Sparrow by Mahalia Jackson, Goin Up Yonder by Tramaine Hawkins and I Can Only Imagine by Tamela Mann.
God blessed Lorraine with five daughters, Jacqueline, Vanessa, Lavonne, Sharon and Trulanda. Vanessa and
Lavonne preceded her death. In 1978 she married the Late Willie P. Addison which she united her daughters and stepsons Charles and Dennis Addison and stepdaughter Lucillie as one big family.
Lorraine was employed at John Hopkins Hospital in the housekeeping department. She resigned to raise her
grandchildren after the tragic death of her daughter Vanessa. This was a difficult time for her, but raising them helped
her to strengthen her mentally due to this loss.
Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was going to the
bingo halls, getting her scratch offs and her visits with her sisters. They were together so much they were named The
Golden Girls. Lorraine was a dedicated mother and friend. She will truly be missed
Lorraine leaves a legacy of love and memories with her daughters, Jacqueline, Sharon and Trulanda; one son in-law,
Darryl; stepdaughter, Lucillie; stepsons, Charles and Dennis; sixteen grandchildren, three preceded her in death;
twenty one great grandchildren, one preceded her in death; five great great grandchildren; seven great great great
grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
