Linda “Winnie” Vines Blackston was born March 7, 1955 to the late, Laura Bell Vines and Jasper Vines. She was a true fighter who fought her illness with everything she had to the very end. On February 14, 2020, God said to Linda “Well done my faithful servant it’s time to come home to a place where there is no sickness”. At 9:07pm, she entered the gates of heaven to rest from her labor and to await her godly reward.
Linda received her education from Baltimore City Public School System where she graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1973. She then attended Coppin State University.
Linda loved the Lord and was a member of First Apostolic Faith Church.
Linda was ambitious and a hard worker from the early age of 17 when she got her first employment at Parks & Recreation. Never looking back, working several jobs at one time, the United States Post Office, and the Sheraton Hotel, just to name a few. In 1999 she became employed with the Social Security Administration, a job that she loved and enjoyed. No matter where she worked, she developed great friendships, and was looked to by many as a mother figure, sister and aunt.
Linda was affectionately known to her family and friends by her nickname Winnie. Winnie devoted her life to making those she loved happy. She was very loving, compassionate, and extremely generous. You could always count on Winnie in your time of need. Winnie enjoyed having a good time and seeing others do the same. She was the Queen at giving great trips and hosting the best parties. Winnie had a passion for fashion, she loved sequins and colors. She made the most beautiful Pineapple Palm Tree Fruit Salads.
Winnie was loved by so many and had special friendships with Bonnie, Kathy, and Lumpy. She shared a special bond with her nephew-son Douglas Vines.
