Leroy Winkler Jr. Obituary

LEROY “Pete”  WINKLER  JR , was born October 1, 1935 to the late Leroy Sr And Katherine Winkler. After a brief illness, God in His infinite wisdom called him to eternal rest  Monday, April 20,2020.

At a early age he gave his life to Christ and was  baptized at Faith Baptist Church where he served as a member of the senior Usher Board   which he enjoyed until his illness would not allowed him to do so.

Despite his illness , he  would  wear his uniform and sit  in with the Ushers when he was not able to usher  on Sunday mornings.

Pete, as he was known to his family and friends was, educated in the Baltimore City School System and  graduated from Paul Lawrence

Dunbar High School in the February class of 1954. Soon after graduation, Pete joined the United State Air Force where he served for four years. After serving his country, Pete pursued a career with

Bethelem Steel,  Sparrow  Point Maryland, where he worked for thirty eight years. After his retirement and   the death of his father, he dedicated his life to taking care of his mother  and  did so until her death.

 After years of courtship, he met and  married  the love of his life, Ruby Hill, on June 15 1981.

Pete loved taking care and cleaning his cars, washing and waxing them every week also cutting his grass, making  sure  his yard looked  beautiful and well groomed.

Preceding him in death were his father, Leroy  Winkler Sr, Mother, Katherine Winkler , brother, James Winkler and son Rodney Winkler.

Leroy leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of thirty eight years Ruby Winkler who  was  faithfully by his side every day and night. She never allowed him to want or do  anything.  During his illness she made sure he had everything he needed ;One daughter, Vanessa (Eugene ) Jackson, three grandchildren , Valerie Jackson , Victoria Jackson and Dana Watkins ; two Foster Brothers, George and Keith  Goodwin ; three God children,  Derrick O’Neal, Joan Hinton and Diane Rollins; Loving and caring sisters in law, Lois Franks , Lula Winkler and three brothers in law, Joseph Hill  ( Phyllis) ,Sidney Hill ,(Wanda)  and Joseph Randolph ; a Special Aunt ,Bernice Vaughn and a host of Aunts, Uncles  Nieces, nephews , cousins, and special friends, William and Gail Wells,  loving caregiver, Lois Palmer.
