Kenneth Jordan Obituary

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor, things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creatures, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Kenneth Jordan (Kenny), son of Pearlie Mae Jordan and the late Frank Edward Hazel was born in Pitt County, North Carolina November 11, 1959.

Kenny received his early education in the Baltimore and North Carolina Public School Systems receiving his High School Diploma from Lawton High School in Lawton, Oklahoma. He attended Sojourner Douglass College for Business Administration and Harford Community College where he received certification in Building Maintenance, Plumbing and HVAC Systems.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1979 and re-enlisted as a reservist in the United States Army Reserve in 1984 where he obtained the rank of Master Sergeant; after twenty-five years of military service, he retired in 2006. Loved and respected by both management and co-workers Kenny was employed at G & H Insulation for over twenty years until becoming ill.

Kenny received Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at the New Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of late Reverend Ralph D. White; he attended Bible Study and Sunday School, served on the Men’s, Praise & Worship, Trustee and Ushers’ Ministries. Kenny attended and participated in Deacon training and was ordained a Deacon in January 2008. Serving as the building engineer, Kenny would be at the church on any given Saturday making repairs and attending to other building needs. He was a true servant of God, whose ministry was help; where he loved and helped his church whenever and wherever there was a need or being called upon.

Kenny met Naomi Wright in 1979 when she dialed the wrong telephone number. He married her in 1991. With their family already blessed with a Son, Antone, years later their union was blessed with a daughter, Kendra. Kenny enjoyed watching movies and sports; led an active lifestyle such as distance running, drawing; martial arts classes, working out at home and at his fitness center. Fishing was his passion and would often go on fishing trips with family and friends; his last fishing trip was with his daughter several months ago. He was loved by the people in his community and was always available for them when there was a need.

Kenny triumphantly was called from labor to reward and entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 31, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He lived a blessed life and will be missed by those who loved and knew him.

Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Frank Hazel, and brother Alvin Hazel.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Naomi Jordan; daughter, Kendra Jordan; son, Antone Byrd; mother, Pearlie Mae Jordan; two sisters, Renee Hazel, Brenda Brazelton; three brothers, Quentin, Tyrone and Frank Hazel; sisters-in-law Harriet Powell, Teresa Wright, Valarie Wright; brothers-in-law, Dennis Powell, Phillip Wright and Timothy Brazelton; devoted friend Keefe Foster and a host of aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
