Karen Myers Obituary

KAREN BERTINA MYERS, affectionately called, Precious was born on December 15, 1960, in Baltimore City, Maryland to Doris Whitby Myers and the late Reginald P. Myers, Sr. (Poncho). She was called home to the Lord no March 3, 2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Precious received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools, St. Katherine Catholic School and graduated from Dunbar High School. She attended and received a modeling certificate from Barbizon Modeling and Acting School. Precious worked various jobs in Baltimore City throughout her youth and adulthood.

Precious was a very spiritual and religious person. She regularly listened to church and gospel music on the radio and would fuss out any child who changed the radio station. Precious watched TBN Gospel Network religiously. She routinely paid her tithes and anointed all the children with holy oil. She prayed, fasted and preached the word wherever she went and to whomever would lend her an ear. Precious regularly read the Bible and knew the Bible from front to back. Precious would say, "the Bible was her church." She was so serious about her religious commitment that she refused to be disturb during her time with serving God.

She loved to talk and was a "people person." She loved to joke and El says, "She was never serious even when taking a picture-she would make a funny face." Precious loved to cook and would cook without eating. Her food was always delicious. Precious loved her family, her mother, siblings, children, grandchildren and all the kids in the neighborhood/bonus children. She had special relationships with her granddaughter Harmony and her stepdaughter, Nikki. Precious watched Harmony from an infant until Harmony became 8yrs old and only stopped when she became ill. Precious and Nikki frequently talked about everything in life. Precious was a living example of the African Adage, "It Takes A Village To Raise A Child."

Precious leaves to cherish her memories: two sons; Michael Ausby (Mike) and El Ramses Barca II (Al); mother, Doris Myers (Mama); 2 step sisters, Yvonne Newby-Kersy and Leah Newby (Ginky) and a brother, Reginald P. Myers, Jr. (Reg), 4 grandchildren; Harmony Barca (Rara), Bridgette Ausby (Gigi), Brianna Ausby, Daniel Barca (Hero), an uncle, Ronald Myers (Little Bitts), 5 aunts, Sugar Plum, Bobbie, Bernadine, Nancy, Regina; a special friend, Edward Lyles, step/bonus children and host of nephews, nieces, cousins. Precious was preceded in death by her son, Hamilcar Ra Barca (Hamma).
