Karen Roxanne Maddox, “Karenie” as she was affectionately known was the ninth child born September 25,1960, to the late Calvin Sr. & Helen Maddox. Suddenly, Saturday, October 17, 2020 she was called home for her eternal walk where she will be embraced by her family.
Karen attended Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Claremont High School. She also loved going to Levels Medical Adult Day Care where she could mix and mingle with her friends that she made there.
Karen, was a devoted sister, aunt, niece, and friend. Karen’s interests included family gatherings, playing cards (spades or tonk) and a GOOD MEAL! She was really funny and loved kids; as she was just a big kid herself. Karen was sweet and quiet, but people knew to tread lightly because she could and would go up one side of you and come down the other.
After her mother passed her sister Gail took on the role of making sure Karen stayed connected with her family and friends. Whenever you saw Gail, you could be sure that Karen wasn’t far behind. Gail did not have a manual when it came to caring for loved ones, but she always stepped in to help and she handled it with grace, humility and an occasional curse word. Gail, because of your selflessness, you made life greater for Karen and made it easier for all of us. Know that we are forever grateful.
Karen was proceeded in death by her father Calvin Sr. (2007), her mother Helen (2008), her brothers Mark (2010) and Calvin, Jr. (2012).
Karen is survived by her three brothers: Marvin (Vivian), Warren (Arnetta), and Brian (Roseate); four sisters, Bernadette (Hugh), Sharon, Paula, Gail (Brian); one aunt, Sister Ricardo Maddox; one uncle Gordon Marlowe. Karen also leaves to mourn nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great nephews, great-great nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
