Jerome Mahomes Obituary

JEROME MAHOMES was born August 25, 1952 to the late Howard and Bertha Mae (Byers) Mahomes. He peacefully passed away on March 12, 2023.

He was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. As a child, Jerome's favorite pastime was playing Cowboys and Indians. He later found his real passion in music, playing drums and running track.

Jerome was employed at Borden Ice Cream and Dairy Company. He received many awards for outstanding performance and attendance. Unfortunately, during his time working there, he suffered an excruciating back injury which caused severe nerve damage. This injury impacted the rest of his life, but in true Jerome fashion, he was resilient and creative in dealing with the many challenges he faced throughout life.

It was an ongoing family joke that he was an entrepreneur and had his own mobile business called, Mobile Style Express.

This was because he liked to go to thrift stores and buy items and then resell them. He was a very stylish dresser and a master of brim hats. He specialized in summer straw hats, baseball caps and Kangol caps. During the fall and winter, he wore a skull cap.

Jerome found serenity, peace and love in music. One of his favorite artists was Anita Baker. He was an avid reader of the newspaper and would have it gently rolled under his arm for later reading.

Jerome was truly loved and will be sincerely missed by all who knew him. His memory will be forever etched in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Bertha Mae (Byers) Mahomes and his siblings Larry Mahomes, Tyrone Mahomes and Betty Mahomes.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Kevin Knight Sr., Katrina Mahomes and Darrin Mahomes; seven grandchildren, Keenan Jones, Kevin Knight Jr., Torri Lee Mahomes, Kai Royster, Kendall Knight, Kinnard Mahomes and Alana Mahomes; a great-grandchild, Kari Knight; siblings, Diane Byers, Howard Byers, Elizabeth Burton, Allen Mahomes, Darlene Brown and Costello Mahomes and a host of other family members and friends.
