JEROME FOWLKES was born on July 14, 1927 to the late Susie and Henry Lee Fowlkes.
Jerome, affectionately known as “Bubbles”, was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system.
After leaving the public school system, Bubbles enlisted into the U.S Navy.
Later, he married the late Alice Irene Fowlkes and from this union, a son, Charles L Fowlkes Sr., was born. Bubbles also had four other children – Sylvester Fowlkes and Renee Walker; (two preceded him in death, the late Marvin Fowlkes and Larry Fowlkes).
After being discharged from the Navy, Bubbles went to work at Bethlehem Steel. He established a 44-year career there where he had developed some amazing, long lasting friendships with his co-workers.
Bubbles loved being around people and people loved him for his charming personality. He could definitely make you laugh with his great sense of humor. Bubbles also had a special love for children, especially his own grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bubbles loved to dress in his finest clothes, put on his fine jewelry, drive his beautiful car, and go out around people to drink, dance, and tell his famous stories. He also loved good food. He lived a long, wonderful young life for 94 years. He will be missed.
He is survived by three surviving children Sylvester Fowlkes, Charles Fowlkes Sr. (Doris) and Renee Walker; two sisters, Lorraine Fowlkes and Mary Coles; brother, Henry Douglas Fowlkes; daughter in-law Cynthia Fowlkes; cook and special daughter Lydia Mosley; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
