JAMES D. YOUNG, a beloved husband, step-father, brother and grandfather, passed away on March 17, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. Born on August 7, 1947, in North Carolina, James was the son of Edna Howard-Young and Sherman Hockaday, who instilled in him values of kindness, resilience and faith.
James's journey led him through the halls of the Baltimore City Public School System, where he gained knowledge that would serve him throughout his life. It was during this time that he developed a deep appreciation for music, especially the soulful sounds of Old Soul and R & B. Artists like Rick James and James Brown became the soundtrack of his life, bringing joy and rhythm to his days.
In James's life, one of the most significant aspects was his marriage to Willinette Williams, the love of his life. With this union, he embraced a new family, gaining stepchildren and grandchildren whom he cherished dearly. His devotion to family extended beyond familialties, creating bonds of love and support that defined his existence.
James was not just a collector of vinyl records; he was a curator of memories, each album holding a story and a melody that resonated with his soul. His love for music was matched only by his love for dancing, a passion that brought joy to those around him.
Among his hobbies, James found solace and excitement in the world of gaming. His Play Station 5 became a portal to adventure, with Destiny being his favorite game. Whether exploring virtual realms or grooving to classic tunes, James embraced life with enthusiasm and a youthful spirit.
As a Christian, James's faith guided his actions and filled his heart with hope. He lived a life of compassion, generosity, and forgiveness, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.
James D. Young's memory lives on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Willinette Williams-Young, his brother Samuel Young, children Darlene, Shawn, Marlene, Jermaine, Willienette, Sylvia and Pete, as well as his late children Phillippa, Juan, Tony, Ronn, and Charlene, grandchildren and all who were touched by his kindness and love.
Though he has left this life, his spirit dances on in the melodies of the past, the laughter of loved ones and the enduring love that binds his family together. James's journey continues in the realms of eternity, where his soul finds peace and everlasting joy.
