Obituary

JAMES ALBERT McCLAIN, SON OF THE LATE JAMES L. McCLAIN AND EFFIE T. McCLAIN, WAS BORN OCTOBER 21, 1943 IN NOR - FOLK,VIRGINIA. HE DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON MARCH 2,2020 AT SEASONS HOSPICE HOSPITAL, AFTER BATTLING HEART COMPLICATIONS.

HE WAS BAPTIZED AND GAVE HIS LIFE TO CHRIST AT AN EARLY AGE. HE TRULY LOVED THE LORD AND READ THE BIBLE REGULARLY.

HE GRADUATED IN 1961 FROM BOOKER T. WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL IN NORFOLK,VA. DURING HIGH SCHOOL, HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE MARCHING BAND AND PLAYED THE TROM - BONE.

UPON GRADUATION HE SERVED IN THE U.S.ARMY FROM 1962-1968, ARMY NATIONAL GUARD FROM 1973-1984 AND THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE FROM 1984-1995.

HE CAME TO BALTIMORE IN THE EARLY 70’S WHILE IN THE NATIONAL GUARD, HE STARTED WORKING FOR THE DEPT. OF CORRECTION IN 1981 AND RETRIED IN 2000.

SARGE WAS A MEMBER OF NORTHEASTERN POST 285, AMERICAN LEGION.HE SERVED ADMIRABLY IN MANY POSITIONS IN HIS 28 YEAR MEMBERSHIP. MOST NOTABLY AS THE CHAIR OF THE COLOR GUARD SECTION OF THE POST. HE WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE REINDEER CLUB FOR OVER 20 YEARS.

HE TOUCHED THE LIVES OF EVERYONE HE CAME IN CONTACT WITH, WITH HIS JOY, LAUGHTER, LOVE, SLICK TALK AND THE WAY HE DRESSED. HE LOVED GOING FISHING, BASEBALL, JAZZ MUSIC, SHOOTING POOL AND BEING WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL.

HE LEAVES TO CHERISH HIS WONDERFUL MEMORY: HIS LONG TIME LIFE PARTNER NOTIS MASON, HIS SISTER, EILEEN LAWRENCE, TWO BROTHERS, EARL LEE McCLAIN AND RUSSELL WRIGHT(JANICE), HIS CHILDREN, RENEE BROWN CAMER - ON(DANA), CATINA WATSON, DARRILYNN TYSON, JAMES WILSON(SHERYL),ROBERT KEVIN McCLAIN(LANA),11 GRANDCHILDREN,9 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, SPECIAL FRIEND, CAROL SPELLMAN, NIECES, NEPHEWS, AND HOST OF OTHERS RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.
