On Tuesday, February 23,2021, after a brief illness James Thomas Brown departed this life. James Thomas Brown the eldest son of the late James Brown and Sarah Purnell was born on June 3,1941 in Baltimore, Maryland.
James received his education in the Baltimore City School system, but did not finish school as he had to assist with care of his siblings by seeking employment. His first job was as a shoe shiner which led him to the Supermarket industry where he worked for over 50 years. He was dedicated to being a provider for his family and always gave his last to help a friend in need. James married Lossie Marie Brown and from this union three children were born. He later married Jacqueline Cameron and from this union two children were born.
James made friends everywhere he went. He was always entertaining his friends with his great taste in music. He could always be found outside singing and playing classic hits. James loved to play cards especially Solitary and watch Westerns.
He was predeceased in death by three sisters; Frances Purnell, Gloria Brown, and Bessie Brown and two brothers Earl Brown and Michael Brown.
James leaves to cherish in his memory: his children, James Brown Jr.; Booker “Terry” Brown; Adrienne Smith; Likeshia Brown McClurkin, and Purnell Brown; son-in-law, Ayvon McClurkin; daughter-in-law, Lenora Brown; two brothers, Theodore Purnell and Anthony Smoot; two sisters, Mary Jones, and Diane Purnell; one brother-in-law, Samuel Jones; two sisters-in-laws, Gale Purnell and Marilyn Brown; one uncle, Thomas Purnell, fifteen grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
