Glenn Carter Obituary

Glenn Roy Carter was born on January, 7, 1955 in Miami Florida to the late Bernard Carter, Sr. and the late Queen Eddy Carter. From the age of eight or nine days old he was raised by his godmother Ms. Doris M. Tabron until his death.

Glenn was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, and graduated from City College in 1973. After graduation, he joined the United States Armed Forces. After four years of service he re-enlisted, and served until 1979. His first Environmental Services job was with WJZ Channel 13. He later found employment with the Traffic Transportation Department of Baltimore City as a Crossing Guard. His post for the past four years was at York Road and Harwood Road. He loved his job and was very dedicated to it. He loved the school children, and the children loved him. He received several Employee of the Month Awards from the Transportation Department.

Glenn, knew the Lord Jesus Christ. He was baptized at the age of eight, at the Faith Baptist Church in Baltimore; he was a member of their Youth Choir until he was thirteen. Later, he became a member of the New Life Evangelical Baptist Church in Baltimore, where he served on the Usher Board. In 2015 he joined Northside Baptist Church in N.E. Baltimore, where he served on the Men’s Ministry and was a faithful member of the Security Ministry. Come rain or come shine, you could always find Glenn outside on Sunday’s directing traffic on the parking lot. He would help out when and wherever he was needed during various church events.

Glenn fondly known as “Smokey” by his friends, was raised from infancy by his Godmother, Doris Marie Tabron. He was a quiet man who pretty much stayed to himself. His favorite seafood was crabs! He loved sports, and his favorite team was the Baltimore Ravens and the Orioles. He loved to work and was dedicated to his church ministries, and his job.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Bernard Carter, Sr., and Queen Eddy Carter; his sister Diane Carter and brother Larry Carter. To forever cherish his memory, he leaves behind his Godmother, Doris Marie Tabron; his two sons, Maurice Jenkins and Tevin Carter; his daughter-in law Ahnyiah Carter; two brothers, Bernard Carter, Jr., and Reggie Carter; three sisters, Connie Carter, Pamela Carter, Vonneeter Anderson, and Felicia Madison; one grandson, five granddaughters; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

Glenn will never be forgotten! We will always keep his memory alive. He will be forever missed by his family, his church family and friends. We believe he will be missed by everyone whose life he touched in some way.
