Obituary

FENTRESS RICHARD NUE, the only child of the late Mary and Fentress Alfred Nue was born on November 28, 1935 in Whiteville, North Carolina. Time surrendered to the eternal purpose of God and after a lengthy illness, he was called home to the Lord on December 26, 2020.

Fentress, affectionately known as "Nue" or "Punky" received his education in Whiteville, North Carolina at Central High School where he graduated in 1954. Nue served professionally in various capacities. He was a maintenance technician for the Housing Authority of Baltimore City and later worked and retired as a steel worker from the Armco Steel Processing Plant in the early 80's. As well, Nue was a self-made entrepreneur and worked as a driver for the Yellow Cab Company.

Fentress Nue accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior later in life, and was a member of the Saint Mark AME Zion Church in Whiteville, North Carolina.

He was an avid outdoorsman and a country boy at heart. He loved hunting, fishing and raising his chickens. As well, Nue loved aquatic life and always maintained an aquarium in his home with a mixture of exotic fish and sea creatures. Additionally, he was a die-hard Carolina Panthers fan and rarely missed watching a game.

More than anything, Nue loved to laugh. He had a timely sense of humor and had a witty come-back for every joke sent his way. He was a self-proclaimed ladies man. He loved his cars and could be easily recognized driving his Monte Carlo or his Cadillac. Fentress loved fried fish. In his remaining years, he really enjoyed spending Sundays with his son, Darrell, getting his hair cut and going out to breakfast.

Fentress was a great man and was loved dearly by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his children Priscilla (Keith), Richard, Maranda, Darrell (Candace), Kimberly (Brian), Albert and Ashley; his grandchildren, Keith Jr., Fateen, Edmund, Shahidah, Kacey, LeLe, Quorey, Brandon, Darrell Jr., Daysha, Jordan, Mariah, Madison, Domenic (Nick), Kay' Breyan, Bryan, Bryson, Christian, DeShaun Jr., DaQuasia, as well as a host of in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and great grandchildren.
