EMMA PEARL BROWN, was born to the late Andrew and Olivia Jackson on July 26, 1941, In Baltimore, MD. Pearl, as she was affectionately called, was the middle child of 5 children. After battling various health challenges, she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 26, 2022.
Pearl was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System where she attended Dunbar High. After her schooling, Pearl held various occupations. She worked for Esskay as a meat cutter for 15 years. From 1992-2012, she was a childcare provider. She served for 7 years as vice-president for the Baltimore City Daycare and then president for 8 years. Pearl liked teaching children and spending time with them.
Pearl was married to the late Melvin Brown, Sr. out of that union she had three sons, Melvin, Wendell and Anthony Brown. Then later she welcomed her baby boy Tristin Little. Pearl's four sons gave her 7 grandchildren and 11 great grand children. God truly blessed her!
Pearl was unique. She was known in the neighborhood as Ms. Emma Brown, with 4 sons, whom she practically raised as a single mom. She was a protector and defender of her sons even to a flaw. She loved her boys. She also, loved being around her extended family (siblings, nieces, and nephews) at family events and holiday gatherings. Pearl enjoyed dancing and listening to music, and she loved to cook. Her favorite dish to make was bread pudding. Her favorite color was blue.
Pearl was a Christian and life-long member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church since 1990. She joined the usher board in 1992 and remained in service, welcoming others in the house of God until her health failed her around 2012. She then began to ride her wheel chair to church on Tuesdays volunteering at the soup kitchen, serving God and His people.
Pearl leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Wendell and Anthony Brown, Sr.; grandchildren, Melvin Brown III, Wendell Brown, Jr., (Tiffany), Britney Hart (Davonne), Tristin Little Jr., Danisha Brown and Anthony Brown Jr.; great grandchildren, Daniel, Sydney, Melanie, Cameron, Gabrielle, Ian, Angelo, Eli, Cali and Cahlia and Anthony; siblings, Deloris Brogden (Charles) and Joan James (John); and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Preceded her in death are her sons, Melvin Brown Jr. and Tristin Little, Sr.; granddaughter, Jasmine Little; father and mother Andrew and Olivia Jackson and siblings, Mildred Cross (Ken) and Andrew Jackson Jr.
