Elsie Knight Obituary

Elise Mae Knights, she was born on October 29, 1945, to the late Jesse(Jack) and Queen Robinson in Skippers, Skippers, VA. She transitioned to eternal rest on Thursday March 5, 2020.

Elise was raised in a Christian home. Elise gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a servant wherever God sent her. The Lord use Elise to serve others. “Matthew 20:28. Just as the son of man did not come to be serve but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many” . Elise loved the life of this scripture. She attended Southern Baptist Church as a young person. She served at Corner Stone Baptist, First Emanuel Baptist Church and Mt Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Clifford Johnson.

Elise met and married the late Napoleon Knight Sr. Out of this union one son Napoleon Knight Jr was born.

Elise began her education in Skippers Virginia at the Powell School. She continued her education at the Frederick Douglas High School, Baltimore, Md. Elise completed two years of college at Morgan State University. She worked as a Software Service Representative with C&P Telephone Company. She retired from C& P Telephone Company after 30 years of service.

The one thing Elise loved to do , was “laugh“. Elise loved to laugh, she would turn a negative situation into a joke. Elise loved to see people happy, her family, friends or anyone who she knew. One of her favorite things to do was traveling. She traveled to Hawaii, Canada, Jamaica and St. Lucas.

Elise loved her family. She loved her siblings but her AKA”Road Dog” was her Brother June, Bug, Big Country, and Jesse Jr. They would take 295 Southbound To Skippers. Elise and Jesse were peas and carrots. Carrots and peas.

Elise loved family. Her granddaughter “ Nykia Tashay Knight was the Apple of her eye. Her loves for Nykia was endless . They spent countless moments together, playing her favorite game of “Scrapple” eating her favorite pizza from Pizza Hut a large cheese pizza with extra green peppers. They watch old Western TV Shows, Gun Smoke, Riffle Man and old John Wayne Movies. Another favorite things Elise shared with her granddaughter is spending time at the Flea Market , Thrift Store Shopping and JCPenny.

Elise ‘s hobbies consist of sew, gardening, playing puzzles, framing pictures and scrap booking. She loved Soul Music, Her favorite song was Marvin Gay’s Song “ Got to Give it up”. This song played for 11:minutes and 53 seconds. “ Elise would dance to this song for 11:53 seconds. Issac Hayes and Lou Rawl’s song “ Groovy People” were her other music favorites.

There remains many great memories of our Oldest Sister: Her Siblings Dallas Mc Coy Robin - son, Angela Marie Jones, Robert Bernard Robinson, Anthony Byron & Sonjia) Robinson, Queen Esther & George Saunders One Granddaughter Nykia Tashay Knight. Nieces and Nephew’s; Victor M Jackson, Antoine T. Robinson, Dwayne R. (Courtney) Pate Jr. and Sundae, R. Stewart, a host of uncles, aunts,,cousins and many other relatives and friends. Special acknowledgement to Suelo Hubbard for being the daughter she never had.

She was preceded in death by her son Napoleon Knight Jr.
