Edith R. Kess, daughter of the late William and Nellie Thomas, was born on October 1, 1925. She departed this life on May 18, 2018 after a brief illness.
Edith attended Baltimore City Public Schools and later graduated from Cortez Peters Black Business College Vocational School. She worked for the Baltimore City School System and Lane Bryant in her early years. In her later years, Edith was employed and retired from the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 1997.
Edith married the former George Kess, and out of this union one son was born, the late Narvelle L. Thomas.
Edith accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and was always receptive to prayer. She loved spending time with her family for holidays and celebrations. She was a quiet and reserved person, and she had the unique ability to recall almost everything and everyone.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Inez Brown (brother-in-law, Lenward Brown) and Rose Crafton (brother-in-law, Charles Crafton); nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
