DORIS BLACKSTON-ARRINGTON, the youngest of sixteen was born on April 24, 1925 to the late Harry and Mamie Blackston in Baltimore MD.. She departed this life , peacefully at the Wonderful age of 94 on September 14, 2019 with her family and loved ones by her side. Doris received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System which prepared her for a 25 year career in the Baltimore City School System as a Civil Service Worker. Upon her retirement, she was Honored with several awards from the City of Baltimore for her outstanding services.
Doris was the life of the party to everyone who shared her company and everyone loved her. She enjoyed cooking and family gatherings. It was never a dull moment when she stepped into the room. She loved Dancing! If you came to her home you received one of two things (maybe-both)- fussed out or a hot meal!!
Doris married Richard Arrington Sr. on September 14, 1941 in Baltimore MD. and out of this union they were Blessed with one daughter, Rita Arrington and four sons- Richard Arrington Jr., Hassan Ali, George Arrington and James Arrington. Later Doris met her life partner James C. Smith and from this union she was Blessed with one daughter, LaQuan Smith and two sons Carey J. Smith and Alfred Smith.
Preceding Doris in death were her parents, Harry and Mamie Blackston as well as her children, Rita, George, Richard and Carey. Also preceding her in death, her granddaughter, Annette Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, LaQuan; sons, Hassan, James and Alfred; five granddaughters, Jeanette, LaJewel, Brandy, Ebony and Layla; three grandsons, Vernon, Carey Jr.,and Jeremy; seven great grandchildren, Keona, Neyere, Ka"Nyah, Shapri, Me'Khiya, Logan and Jerrod; one great great granddaughter, Khloe; two daughter-in-laws, Catherine Arrington and Michelle Smith; one grandson-in-law, Jemini Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
