Deontay Edwards Obituary

On Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 1:00am, Heaven opened the doors for Deontay Kylah-Willie Edwards to come home way too soon.

Through the unity of Shanette A. Green and Phillip Edwards in Baltimore, MD on December 04, 2002 in Baltimore Maryland, GOD blessed us with a bright light and kind spirit always known as Dee or as we all like to call him “Boochum Butt” or “Lil Dee”.

Deontay was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system. He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at the Rose of Sharon Apostolic church and continued his spiritual principles by attending bible study every Wednesday, as well as church services with his grandmother (Gan Gan) at ST. Paul Community Baptist Church. Deontay was able to secure his first professional job with the Mayor’s office through the Baltimore City’s Youth Employment services in the Summer of 2019.

Ever since he was three years old, Dee was known to wheelie his bike all the way down a city block. He could fix any type of bike, even if it was on its rim. In fact, he could build a bike from scratch using scraps. Dee played basketball like a pro. He loved listening to “Oldies but Goodies” with his mother. Their favorite song was “Girl you know it true, ooh ooh ooh, I love you”. He adored his father and thought he could do no wrong. Dee loved going on family outings and spending good times with his family. He loved to rap, make beats and recreate lyrics. He was a leader and did not apologize for it. It was no secret that he loved dice, if he beat you once I guarantee he’d beat you twice! He loved his family with all his heart and would always be there for them, especially his little sister, Nevaeh, even after snitching on him when he was acting up (that was one of her ways of showing true love for him).

He was a hustler at heart and a budding entrepreneur. He worked hard every day washing cars and selling water. He used his charisma and charm to take care of all his carwash customers. I’m sure you all heard of his “half of Fridays” sale. Dee would walk up and down the streets yelling “ONE DOLLAR WATERS HERE AND GATORADES TOO”. He was funny, lovable, witty, and charismatic. To know him was to love him.

Deontay leaves behind his mother Shanette Green; father Phillip Edwards; sister Nevaeh Green; late grandmother Suwanne Trice and Laurie Edwards; grandfather Tony Green; late grandfather Minister Philip Edwards; great grandmother Cecelia Ringgold; godmother Freda Robinson; godfather Aaron Winston; godbrother Malik; god sister Shanika, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many friends.
