DENISE LONG, daughter of the late Shag and Bernice Harris was born September 4, 1952. Denise departed this life on March 31, 2021, after a lengthy illness..to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Denise attended the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Eastern High School and then went on to continue her education at Coppin State College, receiving her BA, BS and Masters Degrees. Denice was a School Teacher, teaching at the Commodore John Rogers Elementary School, (School No. 27) on Chester and Fayette Street and the Mary E. Rodman Elementary School, (School No. 204) 3510 West Mulberry Street.
Denise accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and attended Mt. Tabor Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Walter M. Forrest, Sr.
Denise married the former Johnny C. Long on April 22, 1979.
Denise made friends wherever she went. She liked to teach, sew and listen to music. Denise was a true friend and devoted family woman.
Denise is survived by her brother, Willie Harris; ex-sister-in-law, Robin Harris Jones; two nephews, Marcus and Kendall Harris; one niece, Joniece Harris; one cousin, Latrice Davenport; two second cousins, Anthony Davenport and Travis Doswell; three great-nieces, Tayraye Harris, Samalia Harris and Maraye Harris; two god-daughters, Tear Thomas and Katrina Jackson; a very special friend, Yolanda Henley and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be sorely missed.
