DANA LAMONT HARRIS, son of Annie Harris and Anthony Payton, was born on April 17, 1972, in Baltimore, Maryland. he departed this life suddenly on Sunday, July 26, 2020.
Growing up Dana attended the Highway Christian Church and in 1980, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and he and his father were baptized in the Name of Jesus
Dana attended, Dunbar Senior High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 12, 1990, and was Honorably Discharged in February 2000. While in the Navy, he received Navy Unit Commendation: Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Good Conduct Medal (2),and National Defense Service Medal. While in the Navy, he completed the Advance Medical Laboratory Technician Certification. He also received certification for the Naval Hospital Corpsman Class.
After leaving the Navy, Dana held several jobs. He was a Lab Techncian for a Veterinarian Hospital. He was employed by St. Agnes Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He also worked with his Father's Business-Christian Brothers Janitorial Service.
Dana made friends wherever he went, he was loved by many. He was always joyful, a jokester, playful and always the life of the party. Dana had several nicknames given to him by his friends. In Philly he was called Baltimore, in Baltimore he was referred to as Big Dane; Dana Dana, and Dana D. Dana will be sorrowfully missed by all!!!!
Dana had four siblings that proceeded him in death, Bernard York, Michael Harris, Michelle Payton and Jodie Walker.
Dana leaves to cherish his memories his parents Annie Harris and Anthony Payton stepmother, Harriet Payton; seven children, Dana, Danay, Faith, Dana Jr., Darius Yusuf and O'Chun Harris; three grandchildren, Ayven, Serinity and Harmony; five siblings, Anthony Harris, Janice Harris, Stacey Payton, Shawn Payton (Esther), Chantell Duncan(Todd) and Anthony Payton,Jr. (Mindy); one auntie, Paula Payton; a devoted friend, Tywana "Lottie" Woodley, his close buddies, Fred Gaddy, Reggie Short, Mark Thomas, Jerry Booker, Lamont Banks, Dewan Powell, Charles Neal, Reginald Dawson, Adrian Lemon and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
