D’Kai Juan Vanlandingham was born on February 1, 1999 to Sheria Bolding Kitchen and Charles Vanlandingham. He departed this world suddenly, on October 22, 2016 at the tender, young age of seventeen.
D’Kai, also known as "Kai" was the oldest of four children. He received his education in Baltimore City Public Schools. He was also a part of the Johns Hopkins "THREAD" Program.
Kai was a loving and devoted child to his mother. In his short life, Kai proved to have the eye of a tiger and the brave heart of a lion. He never backed down from a challenge. He loved being with his family and wrestling with his siblings. His passion for music, playing basketball, and boxing was also displayed.
Kai was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Robin Lyn Smith; and paternal grandfather Charles Smith.
D’Kai leaves to cherish his memory; his mother, Sheria Bolding Kitchen; stepfather, Keith Kitchen, Sr.; father, Charles Vanlandingham; three brothers, Kairee, Lil’ Keith, and Drayson; three sisters, K’Lyn, Amiyah, and Amayah; grandmother, Omega V. Fisher; two grandfathers, Jerry Bolding and Troy Fisher; two aunts, Tiffany Vanlandingham and Brittany Bolding; two uncles, Darrell Smith and Brian Drummond; one godmother, Cheronne Bolding; nine great-aunts; three great-uncles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
