Charlie Brogdon Sr. Obituary

CHARLIE BROGDON aka Charles, son of the late Hunter and Lelia Woods Brogdon was born January 5, 1935 in Charlotte County, Virginia. After a lengthy illness, the Lord gave him rest, and called him home on May 13, 2019.

Charlie received his education in the public schools of Charlotte County. After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served for three years. Upon his completion from the armed forces, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland and immediately became employed with the Southern Galvanizing Company as a Forklift Operator, where he worked until his retirement in 1997.

Early in 1959, Charlie met and fell in love with the love of his life

Bernice Dillard.  After a short courtship, Charlie and Bernice married November 13, 1959.  From that union was born four children, Charles (Leon) Jr., who preceded him in death, Michael, Michelle, and Kenneth. Charlie was a devoted father and husband.  He worked hard to provide for his family.  His wife Bernice preceded Charlie in death in 2005.

Shortly after his wife’s death, Charlie was diagnosed with Dementia and had to depend on his children and family to care for him. Charlie was a joy to care for, and this was the testimony of all who shared in his caregivers. Even with the Dementia, he knew he liked to be warm from head to toe, and still loved to eat and drink his coffee. No matter what you asked him, his answer was either “I don’t think so” or “alright (shaking his head)”.

Charlie began his Christian experience as a child, attending church services with his family. Shortly after coming to live with his daughter and son-in-law, Charlie joined the Inner Court Ministries of MD in April 2010 where he worshipped until his health declined.

He leaves to cherish his memory; children, Michael (Rhyzel), Michelle (Cleo), and Kenneth (Winifred); one brother, George Brogdon; nine grandchildren: Romaul, Pearl (Derrick), Dominic Sr., Michael II, Ebony (Warren), Kanae, Korine, Matthew, and Daniel; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother-in-law: Joseph (Jodie) Dillard; three sisters-in-law: Louise Brogdon, Carrie Robinson, and Virginia (Elijah) Goode. Close friends: Howard and Clara Stanley, Robert Singleton, and Linda Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and the Inner Court Ministries Family.
