Charanda Von Dowdy

On June 9, 2022 God put his arms around you and lifted you to eternal rest in HIS garden.

CHARANDA (AKA PENNY) was born on March 31, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland and was placed in the loving arms of her great-aunt Ada Elizabeth Williams who preceded her in death. She graduated from lake Clifton High School and attended some college. Charanda met and married Kirk Clinton Johnson and from that union was born Channon and Mia Johnson. After high school, she began her career with the Department of Justice. She later moved into the medical field, where she worked as an executive administrator for Dr. Ben Carson at Johns Hopkins Hospital up until her health began to decline.

Penny began her spiritual journey at Israel Baptist Church when she was a young child. Later, she would make Zion Baptist Church her church home where she attended faithfully. Penny enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, being a mother to her daughters; and a doting grandmother to her grandson. 

Charanda was a classy woman who had elegant taste and loved all things beautiful. She had undeniable strength because of all her trials and tribulations in life. She was elated upon the birth of her first grandchild and loved spoiling him.

Charanda leaves to cherish her memory; two daughters; Channon and Mia Johnson; grandson, Kellen; sister, Charelle Brown; two brothers, James and Dion Clark; she also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
