CARL LEE WILLIAMS, JR. was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 21, 1952 to the late Ilene Patterson and the late Carl L. Williams Sr. Carl was the second child out of four children, both of his parents were from the south. His mother, Ilene was born in Anderson, S.C. and his father Carl, Sr. was born in Cheraw, S.C.
Carl grew up on the west side of town on Francis Street, which was in walking distance from Cloverdale Park. On any given day (except Sundays) you could find him and his late brother Sam at the park "shooting hoops".
Both he and Sam were avid basketball players. Carl was known as "Jumbo" to his buddies. Carl was also well dressed when it was time to go out or show off. Always "dressed to the nines" Carl received his education from Baltimore City Public Schools and is a graduate of Baltimore City Collage High School, class of 1971. Carl's first job was working at Herling's market, on Whitlock Street as a delivery boy, delivering groceries on a bike with a refrigerator basket in front. His first car was a bronze and black 1969 Mercury Cougar, his first pet was a Ger-man Shepard puppy named King. Carl loved his car and King. They were inseparable.
Carl served two years in the Marines he was stationed in Paris Island, SC. On February 10th, 1997 Carl was united in holy matrimony to Patricia Gatling that had two children from a previous relationship (Lachelle Edmondson and Troy Branch preceded him in death). Carl was a person who always cared for others dedicating his time to schools and volunteering at the Maryland food pantry. He loved giving back and helping in the community where he received a lot of awards and certificates. Carl had so many people that meant so much to him his two sisters, Barbara and Delane Davon his #1, Che Che and Layah his little achiever. Carl and his sister had a special bond referring to her as little sis making sure everyone knew who she was and not to mess with her.
Carl Williams departed his life peacefully on Thursday August 17, 2023 at Sinai Hospital Cherishing his legacy of commitment is his loving and devoted wife Patricia Williams of 26 years. One loving daughter Lachelle Redd (Deshane Redd), Trey Branch (who preceded him in death); two sisters Barbara and Delane Williams both from Baltimore, one brother, Samuel L. Williams (who preceded him in death),; one brother-in-law, Jack Branche (who preceded him in death; two sister-in-laws, Essie Berlack (Albert Berlack) of Teaneck New Jersey, Beverly Chapple (Wayne Chapple) of Baltimore. Grandchildren LaChe' Dabney, Davon Ferguson, Layah Redd all of Baltimore and a host of uncles aunts and nieces and nephews.
