Brenda Ward Obituary

BRENDA CELESTE BONAPARTE WARD, was born April 16, 1957 to the late Wallace Bonaparte Sr. and Laura Bonaparte in Baltimore, Maryland. She suddenly departed from us to her eternal home on September 3, 2020.

Brenda received her education from the Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Dunbar Senior High School. She later attended Baltimore City Community College where she received an Associate’s Degree in Oxygen Therapy. After college, Brenda was employed as a Supervisor at Dunbar High School’s Youth Intervention Program; this job gave her great joy. Brenda went on to work as an Oxygen Therapist at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she achieved her greatest fulfillment by helping countless patients throughout the years. Brenda retired from Johns Hopkins Hospital after 30 years of faithful and diligent service.

In 1978, Brenda married the absolute love of her life, Michael Ward, Sr., affectionately called (Big Mike); the bond they shared was unbreakable. From this loving union three children were born: Michael Jr., Lanita, and Laurita.

Brenda was affectionately called Bay by many who came to know and love her. Others would often brag about her loving, kind, generous, and thoughtful ways towards others. Brenda was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and the time they shared together was endless.

Bay always displayed genuine and unconditional love for everyone; there was nothing she wouldn't do if asked. Her love for helping others was demonstrated in so many ways, from volunteering at the soup kitchen to caring for family members in need, Brenda was always willing to lend herself to others.

Brenda had a flair and a love for plants, and she was convinced that her thumb was actually “green”. She was also an amazing cook, and was known for her incredible banana pudding…let's just say that only empty pans would be left behind!

Bay gave her life to Christ at an early age and although her sudden passing has left a huge void in our hearts, we know that she is resting peacefully in the arms of God.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Ward, Sr., her mother Laura Bonaparte, her father Wallace Bonaparte, one brother Anthony, two sisters Denise, and Pam, and one sister-in-law, Ronnie.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory her son Michael, Jr (Juanita, his devoted companion), two daughters, Lanita (husband Corey) Laurita (Byran Bonds, sr) mother-in-law, Evangelist Elizabeth; three brothers Wallace, Ronald, and Allen; three sisters Margaret, Wanda, Janie; ten grandchildren Denaira, Brytnei, Cortney, Corey, Shera, Nabyra, LaShay, Byran, Jr., Bran - don; two great grandchildren Jhai, Daige; two brothers-in-law Kevin and Lenard; four sisters-in-law Evangelist Lois, Shirley, Nadine, Diane; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; her special devoted friends, Rhonda and her (Roll Dog) Joanna.
